Romance is the women’s eau de parfum Ralph Lauren launched in 1998, composed by Harry Frémont around a rose with citrus accents. The house now presents it as a warm floral: pink pepper, mandarin and violet leaves in the top, rose, jasmine, tagetes and geranium in the heart, woods, patchouli, oakmoss and musks in the base.

Ralph Lauren launched Romance in 1998, a women’s eau de parfum signed by Harry Frémont. The house makes it its tribute to true love, a resolutely feminine fragrance meant to capture the moment of falling in love.

A botanist’s rose

For Osmoz, a rose created by the perfumer, himself a botanist, forms the heart of Romance and is recognizable by its citrus facet. At launch, the rose was surrounded by ginger, tagetes and yellow freesia, lotus flower, lily and white violet.

Osmoz sees Romance as a tribute to romantic and eternal love, a fragrance of intimate moments and simple pleasures, combining the qualities of a classic perfume with the floral subtlety of a modern scent.

The current narrative

Ralph Lauren now describes a warm, balanced floral: a sparkling opening of pink pepper and mandarin, rose and jasmine, and a base of woody musk and patchouli. Like a fairy tale, the house says, it settles into a sensual embrace.

Romance comes as an eau de parfum in 50 and 100 ml, and in gift sets combining a bottle, a body lotion and a 10 ml purse spray.
