Guerlain travels near the Mediterranean

Generally speaking, Guerlain's perfumes very often evoke the City of Paris. Indeed, this is where the house has always been based. However, for once, Guerlain decided to leave the capital to head to the south of France. Promenade des Anglais is a perfume akin to a chic getaway for a weekend along the Côte d'Azur. Thus, it is a perfume that smells of the sun of Provence. Its inspiration comes directly from this long bay running along the sea. Once 7 km long, the Promenade des Anglais was surrounded by villas with lush gardens. Today, these have given way to palaces, casinos and opera houses. If this long avenue is named this way, it is simply because it was built by the English, at the beginning of the 19th century. It runs along what is called the Baie des Anges. It is a must-see spot on the Riviera characterized by its mild climate, its bright colors, its many joggers, and so on. In short, it is a place where life is good.

The Provençal scent of Promenade des Anglais

It is therefore a bit of the sweetness of life typical of Nice that one finds in Guerlain's perfume named Promenade des Anglais. Like each of the house's fragrances, this one was created by perfumer Thierry Wasser. This perfume contains multiple contrasting accords. It opens with a striking freshness built on citrus. One notices in particular the presence of bergamot and grapefruit. Fig, for its part, brings a more vegetal facet. Nevertheless, its succulent flesh also reinforces the fruity aspect of this fragrance. This blends wonderfully with the powdery elegance of violet and iris, one of the noblest flowers in the whole of the perfumer's palette. The whole is then wrapped in a milky nuance while vetiver offers more depth and character to its sillage. The whole is then held in Guerlain's iconic Bee Bottle. Entirely transparent, it lets one glimpse a bluish-colored juice that is not without reference to the famous blue chairs lining the Promenade des Anglais. Finally, a purple bow further adorns its neck with elegance.

While Guerlain created this perfume before the attack of July 14, 2016 that took place on Promenade des Anglais, in support of the victims, the brand donates all proceeds from the sales of this fragrance to the support fund for the victims of this tragedy.
