Luna Rossa is the men’s Eau de Toilette that Prada launched in September 2012, named after the sailing team the house entered in the America’s Cup. Daniela Andrier composed an aromatic fougère in which bitter orange and lavender meet clary sage and mint, over a base of ambroxan and ambrette. Yves Béhar designed its aluminum and glass bottle.
An aluminum and glass bottle designed by Yves Béhar, conceived as a tribute to the America’s Cup and to competitive sailing.
Yves Béhar and his agency fuseproject designed the bottle, in aluminum and glass. The designer says he wanted to honor the quest for the America’s Cup trophy, one of the oldest in sport, and to balance sailing’s heritage and its innovation through these two materials.
A cool steel finish signals performance to him, a touch of chrome luxury. The cap becomes the main architectural element, out of concern for utility, and the house links the bottle, like its packaging, to the dynamic beauty of racing yachts.
The carton and the line’s grooming products carry the red stripe of Linea Rossa, Prada’s men’s fashion line, from which the Luna Rossa fragrances claim descent.
