La Vie est Belle L'Elixir Very Cherry Eau de Parfum Intense

La Vie est Belle is thirteen years old and has a numerous offspring. The 2012 fragrance has spawned some twenty variations, including L'Elixir in 2024, a denser reading of the mother formula. Very Cherry, arriving in 2026, does not derive from the original fragrance but from this Elixir: it takes over its name, its bottle and its violet leaf signature, and changes only one fruit. Lancôme presents it as its first woody cherry, a commercial phrase that has the merit of being accurate.

The architecture holds in three lines and does not try to hide its simplicity. A black cherry opens, thick, dark, closer to candied fruit than fresh fruit. Violet leaf absolute takes over at the heart: it is not a flower but a leaf, green and powdery, and it is what keeps the cherry from turning into syrup. Oud anchors the base, in accord form, with the woody warmth that gives the whole its length. Now Smell This and Lancôme describe the same pyramid, without divergence.

The kinship with the 2024 L'Elixir is not a reviewer's assumption: Lancôme states it, saying it weaves the cherry-oud duo into L'Elixir's violet leaf signature. Our page for L'Elixir lists raspberry and bergamot on top, violet leaf and rose at the heart, leather, cocoa and cedar at the base. The shift is thus plainly visible: one red fruit replaces another, the woody base narrows down to oud. Whoever owns one already holds a good part of the other.

The nose is dual and named, which is not so common in this segment: Antoine Maisondieu and Christophe Raynaud. Lancôme features both names on its own pages, and the trade press repeats them without variation.

The bottle takes over the La Vie est Belle silhouette, reinterpreted by glass designer Suzanne Dalton, already the author of L'Elixir's bottle. The glass shifts into a black cherry gradient, the cap's wings are glittered, and the crystal smile, the line's emblem since 2012, is engraved into the glass.

One point remains open. Lancôme describes its base as an oud accord enriched with a cocoa butter absolute and a Madagascar vanilla infusion. No independent source confirms these two materials, and the reference database lists only oud. They are therefore not included in this page's pyramid: a gap is preferred here over an uncorroborated value. The product's regulatory list does show vanillin, but a declared allergen does not indicate what a perfumer put into the formula.
