Where to buy

In order to further magnify this art of olfactory beauty, the perfumer chose to compose four elixirs that would blend wonderfully with the sillages of the Collection Privée bottles to create unique fragrances. Oud Elixir Précieux is certainly the most powerful of them all — what secrets does it hold in store?

Oud Elixir Précieux, leaving behind a unique sillage signed Dior

François Demachy joined the house of Dior in 2006. From then on, he was able to combine his love of natural raw materials with original and innovative fragrant compositions. Yet the master perfumer also enjoys revisiting the great classics of perfumery to make them more current than ever. And it is precisely in this spirit that François Demachy approached the Elixirs Précieux of the Collection Privée.

Indeed, with Oud Elixir Précieux and its three counterparts, François Demachy sought to explore the ancestral techniques of layering, which consist of superimposing one fragrance onto another to create, with each person’s skin, a unique olfactory blend. This technique, originating from the Middle East and 3000 years old, had to be explored by this perfumer, who draws great inspiration from old-fashioned perfuming methods.

Thus Oud Elixir Précieux presents itself both as an unprecedented bottle of perfume and as a tribute to the Middle East and the richness of its past.

Oud wood, king of woods in Oud Elixir Précieux Dior

In order to compose the exceptional bottle of Oud Elixir Précieux, which would undoubtedly resemble a magic vial or one of the many test tubes of a perfume laboratory, François Demachy selected, as is his custom, the most exceptional oud wood, agarwood, to make its essence.

Thus Oud Elixir Précieux, like a magic potion, should be applied to the neck or décolleté in order to later be paired with the fragrances most suited to its strength. François Demachy particularly recommends blending Oud Elixir Précieux with the chypre and fruity strength of Gris Montaigne from the Collection Privée Dior. The elixir allows the woody base facets to come forward alongside the notes of rose and fresh fruit.

François Demachy has created bold pairings that reinvent fragrances and celebrate the unexpected encounter of contrasting notes. Thus the Élixir Précieux Oud brings an aura of mystery and a touch of opulence to the chypre harmony of Gris Montaigne. Dior on Oud Elixir Précieux.

Oud Elixir Précieux can also be paired with Oud Ispahan, also from the Collection Privée Dior, to further accentuate the richness of the oriental accords against the delicacy of the rose.
