Since 2012, Guerlain's La Petite Robe Noire has made Paris its kingdom. The embodiment of a chic, glamorous and modern Parisian woman, it is a fragrance now known worldwide. Building on its success, it even sees new variations of its scent appear year after year. In 2023, it seems Guerlain decided to bring a springtime breeze to its perfumery lineup. This is how La Petite Robe Noire Rose Cherry came about.
La Petite Robe Noire was created by Delphine Jelk in 2008. Initially, it was a rose-based fragrance, exclusively intended for the Guerlain boutique on the Champs-Élysées. Then Thierry Wasser came along and added a touch of sophistication, which led to its large-scale release starting in 2012. In 2023, the story continues and Guerlain gives birth to a more springlike offshoot of its scent: La Petite Robe Noire Rose Cherry. Let us look at what makes up this new edition.
Rose, the first central element of the La Petite Robe Noire collection
Guerlain's La Petite Robe Noire is a collection heavily focused on the scent of rose. It must be said that this flower is known as the star of women's perfumery, and has been since antiquity! Nevertheless, for Guerlain, it is a very particular rose, instantly recognizable and leaving an indelible mark on the skin. It results from a blend. La Petite Robe Noire Rose Cherry first contains Bulgarian rose, with an intense, sweet character. A symbol of love and passion, it produces fragrances that are fresh yet powerful. To this is added Damanesca rose, from Turkey. It is more honeyed, floral and sweet.
La Petite Robe Noire Rose Cherry, a cherry blossom-based fragrance
As the name of this fragrance suggests, rose is not the only flower to hold a central place in this creation. This fragrance also contains cherry blossom. Paired with white tea, the latter brings a silky, airy texture to this sillage. What is more, the cherry used in this creation is somewhat particular. Initially, it is a fruit used in the pastry industry. To make the most of this raw material and avoid waste, Guerlain decided to reuse it in dehydrated form, turning it into upcycled cherry water. More than ever, La Petite Robe Noire Rose Cherry combines luxury with sustainability!
What other elements does La Petite Robe Noire Rose Cherry contain?
Guerlain's La Petite Robe Noire Rose Cherry also contains other ingredients to round out this duo. In its top notes, this fragrance contains bergamot, a citrus fruit resulting from the crossing of lemon and bitter orange trees. Slightly bitter, it is followed by a more powdery iris heart. It is worth recalling that this flower is one of the most noble raw materials in the entire perfumer's palette. To heighten the sensual side of this fragrance, Guerlain adds musk in the base notes. Finally, for a last gourmand and sweet touch, La Petite Robe Noire Rose Cherry closes on a hint of vanilla.
In order to preserve resources, and to use a majority of naturally derived ingredients, Guerlain also chose to distill these ingredients in alcohol made from French beets, sourced from responsible and sustainable supply chains.
