Woman in Gold

Woman in Gold is a Kilian floral composed by Calice Becker for the house’s tenth anniversary, in 2017, and inspired by Gustav Klimt. A petal-like rose paired with geranium opens on bergamot and pink pepper and rests on a base of vanilla absolute, tonka bean and Akigalawood, a molecule with patchouli accents. The house sees in it the gold leaf of the painting and its play of shadow and light.

Where to buy

Woman in Gold was released in September 2017, for the tenth anniversary of Kilian, the house of Kilian Hennessy. With Gold Knight it forms the From Dusk Till Dawn duo, two fragrances the house says were inspired by the painter Gustav Klimt and by fin-de-siècle Vienna.

A golden painting

The fragrance borrows its name from Klimt’s painting. The house seeks to capture its gold leaf and the interplay between shadow and light, and Calice Becker, who composed it, speaks of surfaces at once textured and brilliant, rich and voluptuous.

At its launch, the house presented it as a gourmand oriental, as complex and dazzling as the woman who wears it. Gold Knight, its woody counterpart signed by Pascal Gaurin, draws on the knight in golden armor of the Beethoven Frieze, painted by Klimt in 1902.

From the anniversary to The Narcotics

Woman in Gold came out as a 50 ml eau de parfum and a 250 ml crystal carafe, in a collector’s box decorated in homage to Klimt’s style. Today the house places it among the florals of its The Narcotics collection, in a refillable 50 and 100 ml bottle.
