Woman in Gold

Woman in Gold is a Kilian floral composed by Calice Becker for the house’s tenth anniversary, in 2017, and inspired by Gustav Klimt. A petal-like rose paired with geranium opens on bergamot and pink pepper and rests on a base of vanilla absolute, tonka bean and Akigalawood, a molecule with patchouli accents. The house sees in it the gold leaf of the painting and its play of shadow and light.

Kilian describes Woman in Gold in three stages: bergamot and pink pepper at the top, rose and geranium at the heart, tonka bean and Akigalawood at the base. In its description of the base, the house adds a generous vanilla absolute, already highlighted at the 2017 launch.

The top

The top pairs bergamot with pink pepper, an opening the house wants zesty and luminous. The notes announced at launch listed mandarin alongside bergamot; today the house retains pink pepper.

The rose

The heart is a rose the house calls petal-like, accompanied by geranium. When the fragrance was announced, the house promised a rose shown in all its facets, in the floral register it now claims for Woman in Gold.

The base

The base brings together vanilla absolute, whose unctuousness the house emphasizes, tonka bean and Akigalawood, a molecule with patchouli accents. At its launch, the house classified the whole among the gourmand orientals; today it places it among its florals.
