By Kilian is a house named after its creator, Kilian Hennessy. He is a French perfumer born in 1972 in Boulogne-Billancourt and grandson of the founder of the LVMH group. It goes without saying that this direct descendant of a luxury group recognized worldwide was destined to one day join this world. As such, he studied at Celsa, a graduate school specializing in information and communication sciences based in Paris. There he wrote a thesis on the semantics of scents and turned toward training as a perfumer. He was trained by some of the greatest noses in the world, such as Jacques Cavallier and Thierry Wasser. Likewise, he first chose to work at renowned perfume houses such as Dior and Armani, before creating his own niche perfume house in 2007. By Kilian was born.

The development of the By Kilian house

Kilian Hennessy has always been immersed in the world of scents. Heir to a long line of industrialists who ventured into the world of luxury through cognac, he was quick to draw on the scents of his childhood spent near the family cellars to create fragrances from them. By Kilian is today a perfume house reserved for connoisseurs. It is independent and answers to no dictate of current fashion or marketing. These are named L'Œuvre Noire, Arabian Nights, Asian Tales, In The Garden of Good & Evil, and Addictive State of Mind. These draw inspiration from the scent of liquors and are worn in an unusual way, releasing an unconventional breath. By Kilian is the perfect embodiment of what one imagines niche perfumery to be. Excellence is present in each of the perfumes crafted there, all composed using the finest raw materials. Moreover, to ensure even greater development and access more substantial resources, it should be noted that the By Kilian house joined the Estée Lauder group in February 2016.
