Angels' Share

Angels’ Share was released in 2020 in The Liquors, a collection Kilian Paris devotes to spirits and presents as a new olfactory family. Now Smell This announced it in August of that year, alongside Roses on Ice, its gin-inspired counterpart.

Kilian Hennessy calls it his most personal creation: an eighth-generation heir of the Hennessy family, he says he drew on the memory of the cognac cellars he visited as a child. The name refers to the angels’ share, the portion of eau-de-vie that evaporates from the casks during aging.

Benoist Lapouza, a first collaboration

The composition is the work of Benoist Lapouza, in his first collaboration with the house. Kilian Paris compares his work to that of the cellar master, who blends eaux-de-vie in just the right proportions to obtain an exceptional cognac, as the perfumer blends accords and essences.

What the house says about it

The house stresses that the fragrance contains an essence extracted from cognac, to which it owes its natural caramel color. Kilian Hennessy describes it as a comforting, almost enveloping scent, one he had been working on for months before the 2020 health crisis broke out.
