Angels' Share
Angels’ Share, Eau de Parfum by By Kilian released in 2020, opens on a gourmand, vanilla-laced cognac with candied orange. The heart crosses cinnamon, tonka bean and oak, while the base brings together vanilla, praline and sandalwood, the vanilla and sandalwood sharing the same warmth.

Where to buy
Angels' Share belongs to The Liquors, a collection that KILIAN PARIS devotes to spirits and their imaginaries. The fragrance was released in 2020 and borrows its name from the expression used by cellar masters: the angels' share refers to the fraction of eau-de-vie that evaporates from the barrel during aging, a phrasing the house repeats on the page it dedicates to this fragrance. The subject is not incidental to its founder, since the launch text, reproduced in full by retailers, recalls the Hennessy family heritage from which Kilian Hennessy descends.
The composition is credited to Benoist Lapouza, whose name appears spelled “Benoit Lapouza” in the inspiration text released by the brand, and for whom this marks a first collaboration with the house. The house does not place the fragrance in a classic family: it claims The Liquors as a house olfactory family, born with the collection. External classifications place it, depending on the source, among vanilla orientals or in the spicy gourmand register.
The opening rests on a cognac essence, a material the official page foregrounds alongside tonka bean absolute and oak absolute among the main notes. The oak recalls the wood of the barrel, the cinnamon essence brings a spicy warmth to the heart, while the tonka bean — placed in the heart by some retailers, in the base by the brand's own page — leads into the woody sweetness of the sandalwood. The official short description also mentions hazelnut. Fragrantica's listings, unconfirmed by the brand, add hedione as well as a candied almond, praline and vanilla facet that heightens the confectionery side of the whole. The official page also notes the caramel color of the juice.
The bottle extends the theme. Conceived as a speakeasy object, it evokes the art deco glassware of grand bars and pays tribute to the quintessential accessory of cognac tasting, the crystal glass. The heavy glass is engraved with the house's emblematic K motif, designed to capture and reflect light from every angle, and closes with a gilded lozenge-shaped plaque signed in white screen printing.
The 50 ml size is refillable, the house stating that it designs all its bottles to be refilled; the glass of the refills has been made transparent to ensure recyclability, the refill being offered in 100 ml, alongside a 7.5 ml travel size. The concentration is labeled Eau de Parfum by retailers, whereas the brand uses the term “perfume” on its own page.
