Paco Rabanne gives the Invictus fragrance a new look. In 2013, one of Paco Rabanne's greatest perfumes climbed to the top step of the podium, like a conquering hero proud of his victory: Invictus. A perfect incarnation of the strong and invincible man, Invictus keeps making people talk about it.
Invictus by Paco Rabanne was launched in 2013 and is considered one of the house's biggest successes. This men's fragrance is the symbol of a victorious man, whom nothing seems able to stop in his quest for glory and success. Year after year, Invictus reinvents itself, giving rise to new variations on its scent. This time, in 2020, it becomes Invictus Onyx, a more contrasted juice, moving from very fresh, marine top notes toward a much more masculine, warm and woody base. From then on, this perfume only needed a bottle to complete its personality. So, how about discovering with us what its bottle looks like?
Paco Rabanne, master in the art of repurposing objects
When it comes to perfume, the focus is often placed on its scent, the nose behind its creation and its olfactory longevity. Yet another element is just as important: its bottle. After all, who would take interest in a perfume whose visual is utterly ordinary and unoriginal? Well aware of the importance of design in perfumery, Paco Rabanne never ceases to surprise. For the Invictus perfume, the house does not settle for a simple rectangular or cylindrical bottle, which it considers far too conventional… It much prefers to have fun and even dares to repurpose an object known to all. Invictus Onyx thus comes in a trophy-shaped bottle. Indeed, since this perfume is meant to be the symbol of a victorious man, this container came about naturally. Invictus Onyx takes the shape of a cup, resting on a small rounded base, while being decorated with two handles on either side. Incidentally, let us note in passing that this is not Paco Rabanne's first attempt at repurposing a bottle. Recall that the iconic 1 Million already took the shape of a gold bar.
The marbled look of the Invictus Onyx bottle
While the silhouette of Invictus Onyx remains unchanged, its color, on the other hand, has been completely transformed. Recall that, at first, Invictus displayed a bluish base, topped with a chrome spray cap. Today, its style is entirely different. The whole bottle is covered in an opaque lacquer. It is therefore impossible to see the perfume it contains. Furthermore, the blue has completely disappeared, giving way to a much more virile and powerful black. With this color, the Invictus Onyx bottle seems to have gained even more character. A few white nuances also appear on its walls, giving it a slightly marbled touch. Of course, this choice of materials was not made at random. In fact, the entire Invictus collection is rooted in an ancient style. No one could say whether this perfume belongs to a man or a demigod. By choosing marble, Paco Rabanne clearly echoes this period of history. This trophy would almost seem to come from an archaeological excavation, as if it had traveled through the ages to reach us.
