Building on the success of Higher, the Dior house presented Higher Energy in 2003. Far from fashion and fragrance trends, Dior broke free of dictates by presenting a streamlined fragrance, Higher. Christian Dior states that Higher Energy is a young and urban fragrance for a man open to new perspectives and horizons… Created by Olivier Pescheux, the composition of Higher Energy is citrus with a nonetheless ultra-vitamin-boosted character. Like a magic potion, Higher Energy leaves behind positive energy, pushing us to go beyond our limits.
Olivier Pescheux offers a streamlined Dior composition with Higher Energy
Olivier Pescheux was born in Paris, far from the capital of perfume. He wanted to become a perfumer at the age of 10 and directed his studies toward a DEUG in chemistry. He then succeeded in joining the prestigious perfumery school in Versailles, ISIPCA. While working at Givaudan, Olivier Pescheux had the opportunity to create fragrances for numerous fashion houses, such as Dior, Montblanc, Yves Saint Laurent, and Hugo Boss. In 2010, Olivier Pescheux won the International Perfumery Prize (formerly the François Coty Prize). Dior called on Olivier Pescheux to create Higher in 2001 and Higher Energy in 2003. He wanted a fresh and streamlined composition, going against the fashion of the year 2000.
Higher Energy, a vitamin-boosted scented cocktail
Truly energizing, Higher Energy subtly combines a vitamin-boosted accord with notes that are both woody and spicy. The result is a fragrance that feels like a breath of oxygen in an urban world. Higher Energy opens with notes of grapefruit combined with juniper berries. Traces of juniper berries have been found dating back to around 1500 BCE, as the berries were then used as medicine. Legend has it that eating one juniper berry a day would ward off all illness. Steam distillation of the berries yields the essential oil. Juniper berries release tonalities that are woody, spicy, and slightly peppery. The heart of Higher Energy combines black pepper with nutmeg and pear. Here, the black pepper comes from India, meaning it is of superior quality. Black pepper essence is obtained through steam distillation. In perfumery, black pepper offers peppery tonalities, but also dry, woody, and fresh ones. The base is ultra virile and sensual, combining Haitian vetiver and white musks. The bottle resembles that of its elder, namely sober and streamlined.
