Where to buy

This is how the fragrance Eau des Sens was conceived. It is described as “a music that breathes on skin.” Like many Diptyque fragrances, Eau des Sens resembles no other juice on the market. It is a unisex scent born of a genuine creative approach.

The history and philosophy of Diptyque

Diptyque was born from the association of three friends united by a shared creative passion. Christiane Gautrot was an interior architect. Desmond Knox Leet was a painter. Yves Coueslant was a theater administrator and set designer. Together they decided to open a shop that initially resembled a sort of chic grand bazaar, filled with all kinds of unexpected objects gathered by the trio during their travels. Then, in 1968, Diptyque launched into the creation of fragrances, preserving their creative originality and transposing it into refined scents. Today, Diptyque is a house recognized for its rich heritage and its highly distinctive olfactory writing. There is no equivalent to this house within the repertoire of classical perfumery. All of their creations are androgynous, suiting both masculine and feminine genders equally. Such is also the case for Eau des Sens, a fragrance that fits in perfect harmony with the rest of the Diptyque offering.

The originality of Eau des Sens

Eau des Sens is a fragrance that immediately sows confusion. Indeed, it is at once very fresh while remaining particularly vibrant. The whole is dominated by bitter orange. Nevertheless, this note is explored in all its diversity and pairs with woods as well as spices. The initial dynamism is created by a skillful blend of bergamot, orange, petitgrain and lemon. Then, orange blossom takes center stage at the heart through an addition of neroli. Here, neroli reveals its citrus, zesty, sweet and mellow facet all at once. Moreover, for a more green rendering, it is enhanced with a touch of tea. Finally, Eau des Sens deepens thanks to patchouli. This is nevertheless counterbalanced by the warm, exotic character of vanilla, and Eau des Sens fades away in a fresh breath emanating from white musks. The composition is held in a bottle similar to all those of the Diptyque collection. Oval in shape, it is crafted in solid glass and firmly anchored to the ground. Entirely transparent, it reveals a most limpid juice. Only its cap, black, opaque and glossy, stands in contrast with its glass base. The whole is at once classic and bold, slightly vintage while remaining contemporary, simply timeless.
