L’Homme Idéal, Guerlain’s first almond fragrance for men, launched in 2014, gains a limited edition, Cologne Forte. The house sees it as a frosted, incandescent almond, an unprecedented expression of the ingredient that signs the entire collection.

A stylistic exercise

Guerlain presents the fragrance as a stylistic exercise for Delphine Jelk, the house’s creative director of fragrances and perfumer. Fresh as an eau de cologne, strong as an eau de parfum, the formula aims to reconcile these two registers.

Delphine Jelk sums up her intention in one sentence: the bitterness of almond, heightened by the freshness of grapefruit, is warmed by the woody notes of vetiver and incense.

Almond as a signature

The collection draws on amaretto, the Italian liqueur with a bitter almond flavor, and explores this almond across a range of intensities. Cologne Forte sits on the fresh side, in 100 ml only, with an alcohol made from French legumes grown through responsible farming.
