Do Son

Do Son is the eau de parfum Diptyque drew in 2013 from its 2005 eau de toilette, both signed by Fabrice Pellegrin. It stems from a memory of Yves Coueslant, co-founder of the house, who spent his childhood summers in Do Son, on Ha Long Bay: a tuberose at dusk, surrounded by orange blossom, jasmine and amber woods.

Where to buy

Diptyque launched Do Son in 2005 as an eau de toilette. Fabrice Pellegrin composed it with the help of Christiane Montadre-Gautrot and Yves Coueslant, placing tuberose at the heart of a fragrance the house says was conceived for Yves Coueslant’s mother.

A memory of Vietnam

As a child, Yves Coueslant, one of Diptyque’s founders, spent his summers in Do Son, on Ha Long Bay. The house lends the whole collection the delicacy of a childhood memory of Vietnam, between tuberoses and sea breeze.

The 2013 eau de parfum

In 2013, Diptyque released Do Son as an eau de parfum, still signed by Fabrice Pellegrin. The house sees in it a tuberose one seems to smell at dusk, when white flowers stand out in the darkness, and more present than in the eau de toilette.

The collection’s editions

In January 2023, Diptyque devoted a series of limited editions and an animated film to Do Son. In 2026, the eau de parfum receives a 75 ml holiday edition, alongside the regular bottle and an exceptional 200 ml size.

What critics say

In 2005, Robin of Now Smell This and Victoria of Bois de Jasmin saw the eau de toilette as a fresh, airy tuberose rather than a heady one. In 2022, Sabrina of The Beauty Look Book found the eau de parfum richer and more floral, and ended up preferring it.

An animated film, in 2023

In January 2023, the Paris studio Werlen Meyer created a short animated film for Diptyque about Yves Coueslant’s summers, set to music by James Blake.

For its 2023 Do Son collection, Diptyque commissioned the young Paris studio Werlen Meyer to make a short animated film. It blends illustrations and line drawings, the signature of the house’s landscapes, to tell of Yves Coueslant’s summers on Ha Long Bay.

British musician James Blake composed the soundtrack. The film was unveiled on January 5, 2023.
