Eau des Sens

Launched in spring 2016, Eau des Sens is the eau de toilette Diptyque devotes to every facet of the bitter orange tree, branch, leaf, flower and fruit. Olivier Pescheux tempers the orange blossom with bitter orange, juniper berry, angelica root and patchouli, for a lively, spicy freshness.

Tammy Schuster, on ÇaFleurBon, praises an orange blossom kept in check by angelica, juniper and bitter orange, wearable by anyone; Ainslie Walker, of Australian Perfume Junkies, finds it the most sparkling scent of the moment, worthy of Jean-Claude Ellena’s compositions.

Olfastory’s review

Tammy Schuster, ÇaFleurBon, May 2016

On May 21, 2016, Tammy Schuster, who dreads stifling, soapy or shrill orange blossoms, declares herself reassured: Olivier Pescheux calms the flower with earthy, spicy angelica, cools it with a dash of juniper and holds it back with bitter orange.

The opening pairs the green bitterness of petitgrain with the bite of juniper. A light spray emphasizes the bitterness, several make the orange juicier and the fragrance spicier. The fragrance lasts ten hours on her wrist, and she judges it wearable by anyone.

Ainslie Walker, Australian Perfume Junkies, May 2016

On May 17, 2016, Ainslie Walker considers Eau des Sens the most sparkling, fresh and vibrant fragrance she has come across in a long time: crystal-clear top notes, amplified without losing any of their naturalness.

She compares this effervescence to Jean-Claude Ellena’s work for Hermès and for Frédéric Malle, and credits Olivier Pescheux with adding even more brilliance to the citrus register, a fragrance that, in her words, hums in the best sense of the word.
