Dune was released in 1991, composed for Dior by Jean-Louis Sieuzac and Dominique Ropion. The house now traces it back to three raw materials, Sicilian mandarin, a peony accord and vanilla, and describes it as an oceanic perfume where the sea meets the land. Francis Kurkdjian restores it on October 1, 2026, along with the twelve other Dioriginals.
Victoria Frolova considers Dune an underrated fresh oriental, vibrant and delicate despite the richness of its raw materials; Persolaise hears a rare power in it.

She says she loves everything about Dune: its uncommon fresh oriental scent, its name, and its winged bottle that fits in the palm of the hand.
She finds it vibrant and delicate, which surprises her given the richness of the raw materials, and considers it underrated. On the version sold in 2012, she judges the base thinner than the original but the whole very close, all the facets of the first Dune still present.

His verdict is unreserved: he describes a trajectory that crosses through sadness without dwelling there, opening onto a landscape that is vast and untouched, and judges that perfumery rarely does better.
