Emanuel Ungaro
Emanuel Ungaro is a French-Italian fashion designer who was born on February 13, 1933 in Aix-en-Provence. He seems to carry his savoir-faire deep within his genes, since his father was himself a tailor. Indeed, it was at his father's side that he learned the rudiments of the stylist's trade, from the age of nine. Yet, coming from a modest family of Italian immigrants, nothing destined him for such a promising career and for the refinement so characteristic of the world of luxury.

ChypreThe bold fashion of Emanuel Ungaro
One day in 1956, Emanuel Ungaro decided to move to Paris and then to Barcelona in order to make a name for himself in the world of fashion and to be trained by the best in the trade. Thus, he joined the Balenciaga company, where he spent six years. He then spent two years at Courrèges before creating his own label in 1965. Very early on, the rigor acquired during his training as well as his continual pursuit of perfection made his name synonymous with excellence. Nevertheless, Emanuel Ungaro took several years to find his own style. As his collections progressed, he managed to surprise his audience with unusual color combinations, mixes of printed patterns, the use of very vivid colors and exceptional draping. Emanuel Ungaro then decided to set up at the start of Avenue Montaigne, in Paris. Indeed, this street is famous for its many luxury stores, and it was, for Emanuel Ungaro, a way of asserting himself as a prestigious designer. He thus opened his store between Prada and Plein Sud. Emanuel Ungaro's rise was such that, from the 1980s onward, he was considered one of the five greatest names in Parisian Haute Couture, and someone who had strongly contributed to the renewal of French fashion during that period.
Emanuel Ungaro's launch into perfumery
Continuing his expansion, Emanuel Ungaro decided to move into perfumery in 1983. This allowed him to complement his many flamboyant outfits with fragrances in their image. Whether in terms of fragrances or couture, each of Emanuel Ungaro's creations is intended for bold women and reminds them that they are, above all, seductresses. Since 1983, the house has considerably expanded its olfactory range with numerous feminine and masculine fragrances. A very latest fragrance for women named La Diva has just been launched, in 2016.
Although Emanuel Ungaro himself has no longer been part of the house he created since 2004, his successors continue to mark each season with highly imaginative fragrances and fashion creations. Thus, the Emanuel Ungaro brand continues on its path with the same anticipation of trends. Moreover, alongside perfumery and couture, Emanuel Ungaro now offers a wide range of interior decoration products.
