Dior Homme Cologne

In 2013 Dior gave a new version of Dior Homme Cologne, born in 2007. François Demachy holds the cologne to three materials: Calabrian bergamot, grapefruit blossom and white musk. The house presents it as a clean freshness with an enveloping trail, and Jude Law carries the campaign, photographed by Peter Lindbergh.

One signed reading: Charles-Philippe, of Bespoke Unit, finds a very fresh, brisk summer cologne, zestier than plain bergamot, which he keeps for hot days and judges very successful, if expensive for what it offers.

What critics say

Charles-Philippe, Bespoke Unit

Charles-Philippe reviewed Dior Homme Cologne for Bespoke Unit in an essay published in 2017 and updated in 2024. He finds a very simple opening, so zesty that he suspects lemon alongside the bergamot, which he usually finds softer.

The grapefruit blossom strikes him as a rather herbal citrus, in which he perhaps detects an aquatic touch. The base leaves him a musky note that gives the whole some substance; he believes he recognizes ambergris and a hint of cedar.

He keeps it for summer and hot days, by the pool, mostly in the daytime and in casual settings. He finds its masculinity understated, supple enough to be worn by a woman.

He judges it expensive for what it offers, next to a very similar Versace Eau Fraîche. He still considers it a very good fragrance, fresh and brisk, with rich, clear notes, that does very well what it was designed to do.
