Daisy

Daisy, by Marc Jacobs, dates from 2007. The top blends earthy violet leaf, tart grapefruit and sweet strawberry, while the heart pairs violet and jasmine, both sweet, around gardenia, and the base brings together musk, wood and vanilla on a shared register of sensuality.

Violet leaf, herbaceous and earthy, sits alongside tart grapefruit and sweet strawberry in the top notes: the citrus here cuts through the fruity sweetness that accompanies it, over a darker green base.

Violet and jasmine, both sweet, frame gardenia, green and fruity, at the heart of the composition; sugar links the first two notes while gardenia sets itself apart through its greenness.

Musk, wood and vanilla share the base: musk and wood both evoke wood, musk and vanilla evoke warmth, and wood meets vanilla again on a shared register of sensuality.
