Apogée

Apogée is one of the seven fragrances with which Louis Vuitton returned to perfumery on September 1, 2016. Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, the house perfumer, raises lily of the valley, the emblem of renewal, among Grasse jasmine, Chinese magnolia and May rose, over a base of smoky guaiac wood and sandalwood.

A pared-down glass bottle designed by Marc Newson, topped with a black cap stamped with the LV hallmark, refillable in store at the fountain.

The bottle, shared by the house’s fragrances, was designed by Marc Newson. It bets on simplicity: transparent glass topped with a black cap stamped with the LV hallmark, with no ornament other than the fragrance’s name.

It can be refilled in stores equipped with a perfume fountain, and the house offers to engrave initials on it. A travel bottle accompanies it, with four 7.5 ml refills that attach to the atomizer with a magnetic closure.

Jeanne Doré, writing for Auparfum, predicted in 2016 that some would criticize this bottle for its sobriety, far from the usual codes of luxury perfumery, its simple lines possibly evoking less prestigious brands.
