His first perfume, Rive Gauche, released in 1971, was an incitement to women's liberation. In 2011, the couturier presented Saharienne, an essence that pays tribute to YSL's iconic jacket.

From the iconic laced Saharienne jacket to the Yves Saint Laurent fragrance

Before being the name of a fragrance, Saharienne was above all a laced jacket. This legendary piece was created in 1969 and stands as an ode to travel. The saharienne is a jacket worn close to the skin, defined as an ultra-sensual jacket meant to elevate a woman. Worn in the nineteenth century in Africa and India, the saharienne protected the skin from the sun. It was generally made of linen or cotton. Thanks to Yves Saint Laurent, the saharienne was not only brought up to date but now has its own fragrance. Elegant and sophisticated, Saharienne embodies an authentic yet provocative woman, unencumbered by convention. Through the fragrance Saharienne, YSL wished, once again, to symbolize women's freedom. This fresh fragrance was created by Carlos Benaïm and Anne Flipo. It was, however, Alberto Morillas who was chosen to update the fragrance in 2015. Saharienne is described as a wild and provocative fragrance. It is like a one-way ticket to an escape whose destination remains unknown. Saharienne opens on a citrus bouquet featuring lemon, bergamot and mandarin. The heart is a floral-fruity association featuring roses along with white flowers that blend harmoniously with blackcurrant bud, the green notes of galbanum, as well as spicy touches of pink pepper and ginger, giving the composition a strong character. The base of Saharienne warms with wood and pine needles. The result is a neo-cologne with an ultra-sensual character. As for the bottle, it displays a crystalline transparency that reveals its golden sand-colored juice. The entire glass is worked with multiple facets, enhancing its radiance. Yves Saint Laurent's iconic Cassandre logo appears at the center of the bottle and radiates like the warm sun. Finally, it is topped with a hammered cap in a very haute couture style.
