The son of a perfumer, Fabrice Pellegrin was born in Grasse and has always had a passion for scents. He began his career in 1999, at the heart of the company Mane. Today, Fabrice Pellegrin works at Firmenich. He is regarded as a highly talented, sensitive and delicate perfumer. Fabrice Pellegrin prefers to work with natural materials, and uses synthetic molecules as little as possible. He states that he loves composing short, structured formulas with clearly defined tiers. Authentic and profoundly human, Fabrice Pellegrin offers fragrances of great beauty. Patchouli Blanc, patchouli again and always
More refined than its predecessor, Patchouli Blanc also displays a more modern composition, but patchouli remains, once again, the star of the fragrance. Patchouli is a tropical plant native to Indonesia. Originally, patchouli was used for medicinal purposes. Patchouli became noticed on the great Parisian boulevards at the beginning of the 19th century. Indeed, it was there that cashmere shawls from India and Indonesia were sold. To protect the shawls from moths during transport, they were wrapped in patchouli leaves. Its powerful scent was immediately noticed, and the Parisian cocottes took up this fragrance, then judged to be the scent of vice. It would take until the 1960s and 1970s for patchouli to have its moment of glory. Then associated with the liberation of morals and the hippie movement, patchouli became the fragrance of an entire generation. Patchouli Blanc takes flight on the freshness of aldehydes, blended with star anise.
Then, the heart is infused with hawthorn and sandalwood. Hawthorn is a shrub whose thorns are known to cover its branches. Also called white thorn, hawthorn was used to weave Christ's crown of thorns. From the seventh century onward, hawthorn was used by the Chinese for its cardiovascular properties. In Greece, custom held that, at a wedding, all the guests would carry a branch of hawthorn on them to wish the newlyweds happiness. In perfumery, the hawthorn note is reproduced in the laboratory. It gives off tonalities that are at once floral, almondy and green. Finally, the base of Patchouli Blanc leaves an ultra-sensual and moving sillage thanks to the presence of patchouli and white musks.
