When it opened, Van Cleef & Arpels was solely a jeweler. This visionary house is one of the finest French houses and has been showcasing the elegance of our country around the world since 1906. However, it was not until 1973 that Van Cleef & Arpels decided to expand its business into perfumery. It is in this context that the house presents its brand new fragrance: Bois Doré.

The sensual, woody scent of Van Cleef & Arpels

Bois Doré is a fragrance owed to perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin. It highlights two key raw materials in perfumery: cedar and tonka bean. Cedar is very often used in the base notes of fragrances to increase their depth and tenacity. Tonka bean, for its part, lends this juice more roundness. It is a fruit from the Brazilian teak tree, which grows twenty meters off the ground but is only picked once it has fallen to the ground. It must then dry and blacken to deliver its full aromatic power. These two raw materials are paired with the impertinence of black pepper. Vanilla also wraps around the cedar and makes it warmer. The drawing power of tonka bean is absolutely immense. It ultimately unfolds into a profusion of white musks.
