It was as a family that Isabelle and Hubert d'Ornano decided to create their own high-end cosmetics brand, in 1976. Then, little by little, Sisley rose to the highest spheres of the global luxury industry, also earning a place among top-tier perfumers. In 2023, the Sisley collection is enriched with an assortment of six new unisex fragrances: the Eaux Rêvées de Sisley. In 2023, the Sisley house develops a new fragrance collection: the Eaux Rêvées de Sisley. Each of the six fragrances that make it up is like the evocation of a memory. One of them is named L'Eau Rêvée d'Hubert. As its name suggests, it is a nod to the founder of the house: Hubert d'Ornano. Sisley chose to reveal his elegance, his natural charisma, his love of nature and his quickness of mind. These are therefore the four elements found in this floral creation, built in particular around the scent of Egyptian geranium.
Egyptian geranium, the central element of L'Eau Rêvée d'Hubert
Hubert d'Ornano grew up in the countryside and retained from it a deep love of nature. It is thus that perfumer Alexis Dadier chose to dedicate this fragrance to a natural element: geranium. Coming from Egypt, it appears in the heart notes of this fragrance. Ordinarily, it is a raw material known for its rosy scent, its rounded breath and its floral effluvia. Very pleasant and long-lasting, geranium is also nicknamed the masculine rose. It yields a floral scent that is not, however, dedicated to women. Here, though, geranium is not treated as usual. Its facets are far more explored and highlighted by Sisley. The house likes to say that L'Eau Rêvée d'Hubert is conceived as a two-faced geranium.
The freshest facet of geranium
At first, L'Eau Rêvée d'Hubert de Sisley echoes the quickness of mind and dynamism of Hubert d'Ornano. This is felt in a very energizing and fresh breath. In its top notes, L'Eau Rêvée d'Hubert de Sisley contains peppermint as well as shiso and buchu. As a reminder, shiso is a Japanese variety of basil, giving off a pleasant and very spicy scent. This element seems to hold within it several characteristic scents. It resembles a blend of coriander, anise, citrus and cinnamon. Buchu, meanwhile, leans more toward rosemary. It also comes close to peppermint.
The more velvety and woody aspect of L'Eau Rêvée d'Hubert de Sisley
It is in its heart that the freshness of L'Eau Rêvée d'Hubert gradually fades to make way for a more woody and enveloping breath. At this point, cedar makes its appearance. Coming from Virginia, it displays here a very dry, green and resinous side. It is also accompanied by an earthier papyrus. Undoubtedly, L'Eau Rêvée d'Hubert is not lacking in character! It releases a galvanizing sense of strength. What is more, it sinks little by little into an ever denser forest. Steeped in nature, it closes with an extremely woody breath. It ultimately intertwines patchouli, moss and ambroxan. Thus, it holds perfectly in place, for many hours. It is not only very chic but also very galvanizing.
