Acqua di Parma gave an aromatic reading of its 1916 Colonia in 2022: Colonia C.L.U.B., an eau de cologne built on eight raw materials. Bergamot, lemon and two peppers open, shiso and rosemary hold the heart, cedar and musk close. The initials spell out four words — Community, Life, Unique, Bond — and give the fragrance its subject.

Where to buy
Acqua di Parma was born in Parma in 1916 with an eau de Cologne from which the house has never stopped drawing variations. Colonia C.L.U.B. appeared in March 2022 and took the place of Colonia Club, a 2015 eau with an almost identical name.
Four letters
The initials read Community, Life, Unique, Bond. The house makes a discourse of belonging out of them: a circle of friends, a bond that lasts, the feeling of being where one should be. The premise is claimed as genderless, and retail files the eau sometimes on the masculine side, sometimes as unisex.
An uncredited perfumer
Acqua di Parma publishes no creator’s name for this eau, and no reliable source puts one forward. The field stays empty here rather than take in an unverifiable attribution.
A revised presentation
The launch bottle was green, cylindrical, partly in recycled glass. The house has since redrawn it on the Art Deco template of the Colonia, clear glass and black cap, and sells it in 50, 100 and 180 ml.
