Le Jardin de Monsieur Li
If the city of Grasse is considered the world capital of perfumery, it is above all because its region is dotted with fields of flowers. Indeed, when it comes to perfume, this world seems inseparable from the scent of a garden.

Where to buy
In this context, Hermès decided to explore gardens from around the world and created a true collection of fragrances revolving around this subject. One of the latest is the celebrated Jardin de Monsieur Li. This one takes us directly to China and promises a most complete change of scenery.
The Hermès collection
It was in 2003 that the house of Hermès decided to embark on the creation of this collection. It aims to take us traveling through the most beautiful gardens in the world. Hermès thus set out to conquer the world in search of little corners of paradise. The Hermès garden collection is a kind of olfactory journey bearing witness to the unique encounter between the house of Hermès's expertise and the soul of certain places on earth. Like its predecessors, Le Jardin de Monsieur Li invites us to set down our bags far from here. It was created by perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena, who chose to take us to China. He describes this land as the one where life begins the day one starts a garden. Here, it is a matter of a kind of earthly paradise, a perspective on the oriental beauty of this country, but also of an introspection. Le Jardin de Monsieur Li is conceived as a place of meditation. It invites imagination and spiritual rest. Its effluvia evoke a Chinese garden dotted with ponds, revealing a poetic kiosk. A place of rest, it encourages one to find one's own haven of peace. In reality, with this fragrance Hermès suggests that we all have something of Monsieur Li within us.
The floral and oriental scent of Le Jardin de Monsieur Li
Le Jardin de Monsieur Li is a fragrance conceived as a sensory landscape. It managed to capture the magic and spirituality emanating from Japanese nature. Thus, everything begins with the refreshing smell of a pond at the center of this garden. This combines an aquatic sensation with the crisp, green quality of bamboo leaves. Then, our gaze gradually rises to glimpse the floral beauty of plum blossoms. These are accompanied by the freshness of kumquats, a sort of small juicy mandarin with a tangy flavor. Then, for greater elegance and refinement, jasmine and rose come into play. Nevertheless, everything is tickled by the presence of Sichuan pepper. This disturbs the apparent tranquility of this garden before it all ends in a more sensual poetry brimming with musk. Of course, Le Jardin de Monsieur Li is presented in the house of Hermès's iconic bottle. This one draws inspiration from the silhouette of a carriage lantern from times past. The transparency of this bottle is here crossed with green and yellow coloring for an unparalleled sun-kissed freshness.
