Soleil de Provence belongs to Les Paysages, the collection L’Artisan Parfumeur devotes to the regions of France. In it Daphné Bugey signs a tribute to the mimosa of the road that links Bormes-les-Mimosas to Grasse. Three declared materials, benzoin, lemon and mimosa, for a powdery floral that the house presents as a winter walk in Provence.
Persolaise finds the journey a miss: the south he was promised arrives washed out, and the flowers are too muted for the full sun announced.

Persolaise (2023)
The critic expected the south and does not find the full sun there. He describes a sky that stays short of azure, fields that look as though they have taken a fair amount of rain, and floral essences carried on the breeze that he hears as muted.
His judgment bears on the gap between the promise and the result. The ticket is indeed for Provence, but the destination arrives short of its sparkling best, and seeking the sun does not always mean finding it.
