L'Artisan Parfumeur was founded in Paris in 1976 by Jean Laporte, a perfumer-chemist eager to let his own creativity express itself. Through his house, he wanted to create things different from what is usually found in stores. Thus, each of the perfumes coming from L'Artisan Parfumeur combines classicism with avant-gardism. The fragrances offered by the house are always highly original and dare unexpected creative pairings. L'Artisan Parfumeur very quickly managed to work with exceptional perfumers. The house imposes no limits on creativity and lets its creators use noble materials. L'Artisan Parfumeur likes to describe itself as a visionary house. Each of its essences is made from high-quality natural ingredients. Likewise, its perfumes are crafted using cutting-edge technology. Nothing seems too fine to explore the best of nature. As a result, many fragrances coming out of L'Artisan Parfumeur's workshops are innovations. Initially oriented toward home fragrance, the house now offers full-fledged perfumes for the greatest pleasure of luxury perfumery enthusiasts. Among its greatest perfumes, some have become cult products of perfumery, such as, for example, Mure et Musc from 1978 or Premier Figuier from 1994.

Today, and since 2008, L'Artisan Parfumeur's creations have been orchestrated by the talented Bertrand Duchaufour. He has nearly 20 years of experience in the world of perfumery. Having worked with major creative houses, it is at the heart of L'Artisan Parfumeur's workshops that he finally decided to settle. Passionate about primitive art, he sees perfumery as a way to let his creativity express itself. This unconventional figure says he draws his inspiration above all from his travels. Bertrand Duchaufour is characterized by a very bold style. He likes to work with contrasts, as if to better bring out emotions. Thus, he dares unprecedented combinations and gives free rein to his imagination. We notably owe him the incredible compositions of Timbuktu, Al Oudh, and la Traversée du Bosphore.
