Abyssae joined L’Artisan Parfumeur’s La Botanique collection in 2022, the seventh signature by Daphné Bugey for this series. A cold eucalyptus, a restrained Damask rose, a green fig, a woody cashmeran: the house sought here the scent of an abyssal flora. The number 33 in its launch name refers to the number of attempts before reaching the right formula.

Four raw materials
Eucalyptus globulus opens, camphoraceous and almost medicinal. Damask rose and fig tree hold the middle. Cashmeran closes the composition, woody and soft, and it is this that holds the flower back.
A family the house has not settled on
The launch press release announced an aromatic woody. The house's American page now speaks of an enigmatic floral. Both readings hold: the rose carries the fragrance, eucalyptus and cashmeran frame it.
What the label declares
Seventeen entries: alcohol, fragrance, water, a UV filter, an oakmoss extract, benzyl alcohol, the series of regulated allergens — linalool, limonene, geraniol, citronellol, citral, farnesol, isoeugenol, coumarin, eugenol — and two colorants.
