Passage d’Enfer Extrême is the 2020 reworking of the incense Olivia Giacobetti composed in 1999 to mark the turn of the millennium. The perfumer keeps its frame and darkens it: the lily reddens, the incense gains smoke, sandalwood and vanilla close a base softer than the original’s.

A Parisian alley

The passage d’Enfer is a small street in Paris, the one where the house had its headquarters in the nineteen seventies. The name stayed with the perfume, which Olivia Giacobetti composed in 1999 to mark the passage into the year 2000.

The original is an incense eau de toilette, calming and meditative; the house speaks of it as a breath of iris and incense. It is still sold alongside its intensified version.

What the Extrême changes

The house is plain about it: the incense note is intensified to gain in mystery and in voluptuousness. The market describes warmer, deeper incense and woods, a more floral and whiter middle, a softer base.

The lily remains the companion of the incense, but it reddens: retailers speak of a translucent lily that blushes under the balsamic smoke, while the specialized press evokes an Asian lily and its spicy facets.
