Booster

Launched in 1996, Booster is signed by Jean Kerléo, Patou’s perfumer, who was then composing the Lacoste fragrances. The house now presents it as a lively, dynamic aromatic fougère: mint and orange up top, lavender and basil, and a base of cedar and vetiver. Its streamlined bottle bears the crocodile engraved in the glass, under a Lacoste-green cap.

Lacoste launched Booster in 1996, the year René Lacoste died. According to Varanis Ridari, of the blog The Scented Devil, the founder had entrusted the creation of his fragrances to the house of Jean Patou as early as 1966, where Jean Kerléo then became the perfumer.

A full circle for Jean Kerléo

Jean Kerléo, the perfumer of the house of Patou, signed Booster. For Varanis Ridari, the fragrance closes a loop: Kerléo ended his work for Lacoste there, which he had begun by composing the brand’s very first fragrance, in 1966.

An aromatic fougère

According to Varanis Ridari, Booster survived the changes of ownership of the Lacoste license after Kerléo’s departure in 1998. The house now presents it as a lively, dynamic fragrance, intended for authentic men.

What critics say

Varanis Ridari, of The Scented Devil, hails a fragrance both typical of Jean Kerléo and surprisingly modern, fresh but strong, woody and dry to a fault, and gives it a thumbs up.
