Anne Flipo and Dominique Ropion have often worked together to create perfumes, but above all, they are the ones who composed La Vie est Belle l’Eau de Parfum (with Olivier Polge), then l’Eau de Toilette. After the success of their first two fragrances, it was therefore only natural for Lancôme to choose these two talented perfumers again. While Anne Flipo and Dominique Ropion both work for IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances), they are also two of the most talented perfumers of their generation. Anne Flipo is sensitive and creative. As for Dominique Ropion, he possesses a unique and unmatched know-how. Together, they have created major successes such as Olympéa by Paco Rabanne or L’Homme L’Intense by Yves Saint Laurent.
The gourmand iris enhanced at the heart of La Vie est Belle, l’Absolu de Parfum
Anne Flipo states: to create an absolu, the notes must be enhanced, especially the heart and base notes, to make them even more powerful, more present, more entrancing, while keeping the personality of the perfume. It will therefore be a version much more intense than the original. La Vie est Belle, l’Absolu de Parfum opens with ultra sweet and fruity notes, namely pear and blackcurrant. Blackcurrant is the fruit of the blackcurrant bush, a small shrub from the cold and temperate regions of Europe. In France, traces of blackcurrant date back to the 12th century. In the 18th, most French gardens had a blackcurrant bush, and its fruit was then used for its many medicinal properties. In perfumery, either the leaves or the buds are used. Bud absolute is obtained through volatile solvent extraction. At the heart of compositions, blackcurrant releases fruity, sweet and also bitter tonalities. The heart of La Vie est Belle, l’Absolu de Parfum is composed of the gourmand iris, that is, iris pallida concrete, jasmine absolute and patchouli, all at a high concentration. Iris pallida is one of the noblest materials in niche perfumery, but also one of the most expensive. Also called the blue gold of perfumery, iris pallida is a pretty blue-violet flower offering powdery and ultra delicate scents. Finally, the base of La Vie est Belle, l’Absolu de Parfum is ultra gourmand thanks to the presence of praline, vanilla and tonka bean.
