Where to buy

In 1987, the fragrance “La Panthère” made its first appearance. In 2014, the house of Cartier offered a reinterpretation of this panther in order to give it a breath of modernity. Building on this success, Cartier unveiled “La Panthère Édition du Soir” for fall 2016. More luxurious and more seductive than its predecessor, “La Panthère Édition du Soir” still pays tribute to the panther, an emblem so dear to the brand.

The eternal icon of Cartier

Since the Roaring Twenties, the panther has been the symbol of the house of Cartier, and it was not chosen by chance. It turns out that the panther is none other than Jeanne Toussaint, a Parisian “cocotte” who became the mistress of Louis Cartier. Jeanne was nicknamed “La Panthère” because her character was fierce and unyielding… but not only that! As director of the high jewelry department, Jeanne Toussaint was behind one of the most magical creations, the panther jewel. Set on a 152.35-carat cabochon sapphire, covered with a pavé of diamonds speckled with calibrated sapphires, the animal is imbued with ferocity and sensuality. Since then, the Cartier icon has been everywhere. As a new tribute to the panther, or perhaps to Jeanne, “La Panthère Édition du Soir” aims to be highly luxurious and as seductive as possible.

La Panthère Édition du Soir, a floral accord built around gardenia

To create this very particular composition, Cartier called on the talented Mathilde Laurent, one of the most renowned perfumers. She is, moreover, the one who created “La Panthère” in 2014 as well as “La Panthère Légère” in 2015. For “La Panthère Édition du Soir”, Mathilde Laurent wanted to imagine a luxurious, glamorous and ultra-feminine fragrance. With “La Panthère Édition du Soir”, the woman appears in her wildest, most feline side. The composition is both refined and contrasted, evoking a starry night that combines the deep color of a black sky with the golden light of the moon. “La Panthère Édition du Soir” is built around gardenia, with a prominent floral accord. The base is sensual and carnal, with musks paired with animalic notes. As for the bottle, “La Panthère Édition du Soir” reuses that of its predecessor. Its geometric silhouette conceals at its heart the sculpture of a panther's head. One can see that the feline's face is sculpted directly into the glass. It is topped with a metal headpiece with sun-kissed reflections and wears an elegant black hat. It then resembles a beautiful starry night...

Two years after the reinterpretation of “La Panthère”, Cartier unveiled “La Panthère Édition du Soir”. While it has nothing to envy in its predecessor when it comes to feline character, the evening edition aims to be more luxurious and, above all, more seductive. A new version that expands Cartier's feline range.
