Cartier remains one of the most esteemed jewelry houses in the world. However, for several years now, Cartier has also been crafting fragrances of excellence. Today, these two worlds intertwine, and this is how the fragrance Carat came into being. Focus on this new scent, as pure and radiant as a diamond.

Revealing the brilliance of a diamond in a fragrance

Like all fragrances from the house of Cartier, Carat was crafted by perfumer Mathilde Laurent. Indeed, unlike other houses, Cartier has its own nose. For several years now, Mathilde Laurent has sought to align herself with current trends while faithfully respecting Cartier's heritage. As if to echo the world of jewelry so characteristic of the brand, she decided to craft a fragrance named Carat. This new scent thus appears as a true jewel. Moreover, to craft this fragrance, the young woman also drew inspiration from a phrase by Princess Bibesco addressed to Jeanne Toussaint:

Who are you? You who perfume diamonds? This is how the idea for the Carat fragrance emerged. Moreover, this is precisely what also resurfaces in the vision of its bottle. Its bottle is crafted like a sort of glass cylinder whose walls are finely sculpted. Each beveled section of its glass reflects light in a different direction, creating a hypnotic feeling through its almost transparent juice. The cap of Carat reveals all its refinement in a golden lacquer finish. Finally, the whole is topped with a soft pink spray nozzle, synonymous with practicality and femininity.

But then, how does one translate the appearance of a diamond into an olfactory experience? Mathilde Laurent opted for a fragrance that is both floral and abstract, simple and sophisticated. Carat is built around seven main flowers: violet, lily, hyacinth, ylang-ylang, narcissus, honeysuckle and tulip. This combination is both fresh and lively, white, pure and limpid. Each flower is meant to represent a color of the rainbow, ultimately creating a rainbow of flowers. The image is beautiful and poetic, fitting perfectly with the house of Cartier. Alongside this, the Carat fragrance also contains green and watery fruits, as well as a musk note for a more seductive elegance. This fragrance is aimed, moreover, at a feminine audience in search of elegance. Finally, Mathilde Laurent is pleased to say that she designed Carat as a fragrance that shines with as much fire as a diamond.

The advertising

Cartier signs an ad for its Carat fragrance

The house of Cartier was founded in 1847 in Paris. Edward VII did not hesitate to say of this house that it was the jeweler of kings and the king of jewelers. Having crafted the most beautiful jewelry in the world, Cartier nevertheless decided to expand its field of activity a little further. This is how the brand turned to perfumery, now offering women invisible yet fragrant adornments. As if to link these two worlds, Cartier presents an entirely new fragrance named Carat. Crafted like a diamond, it enhances femininity and now comes with an entirely new advertisement.

The radiant advertisement for Carat

The television spot for Cartier's Carat fragrance opens on the vision of a young woman holding a bottle in her hand. Of course, it is the new Carat by Cartier. The camera then plunges us into her azure blue and hypnotic gaze. Combined with her blonde hair, this alluring creature has all the traits of an angel! Immediately, hair blowing in the wind, she does not hesitate to break into a run across a rooftop. Cartier's Carat fragrance seems to give her wings and fill her with joy! Sometimes alone, sometimes accompanied by two friends, Cartier's ambassador radiates. Her femininity shines and fills the screen. The scene is sometimes filmed live or through the lens of a camera. The visual of this clip is enough to bring a smile. With it, happiness is contagious! The young woman dances, runs, twirls… She appears more sparkling than ever. The shots follow one another until ending with the vision of the Carat by Cartier bottle. The whole unfolds to the track Dorothy by Polo & Pan.

Carat, a floral diamond

Carat by Cartier is a fragrance designed like a diamond. Thus, it reflects light and unfolds femininity. It opens first on powdery top notes of violet and lily. Then, its heart becomes more sun-kissed with the touch of ylang-ylang, jasmine and narcissus. Finally, its fragrance closes with honeysuckle and tulip. This fragrance was designed by Mathilde Laurent, Cartier's official perfumer, who explains: I wanted to create a fragrance that shines with as much fire as a diamond. And the idea came to me to apply to the fragrance the same optical phenomenon as the diamond: the diffraction of colors. I therefore chose seven beautiful fresh flowers, which could be brought together to form a new one, abstract but alive, like the light of the diamond. Moreover, the bottle of this fragrance also evokes the idea of a diamond. Sculpted like a genuine precious stone, it captures light and makes its reflections shimmer. In keeping with the purest Art Deco tradition, it is timeless, evoking on its own all the prestige of the Cartier brand.
