Kouros is a cult fragrance from the house of Yves Saint-Laurent. Introduced in 1981, it continues to draw attention and captivate with its powerful, intense breath. The rather clean look of the Kouros bottle
Kouros is a powerful and intriguing fragrance, blending numerous dark, woody ingredients. It notably contains spices such as pepper, as well as vetiver, patchouli, oakmoss and even leather. Infinitely virile, it is also mysterious. Given this description, one might expect a rather dark-looking bottle, as if to reveal the full masculinity and brooding personality of this fragrance… Yet this is not the case at all! Yves Saint-Laurent instead opted for a completely white and immaculate bottle. Kouros comes in a fairly understated bottle, whose contours are even rounded, which is a real sign of softness and tenderness. The virility of straight lines is thus paired with curves. Yves Saint-Laurent chooses immaculate white
So why choose white? In reality, it is meant to evoke the sculptural columns and the dominant color of Greece. As an aside, note that Kouros refers to a sculpture of an undressed young man, endowed with a perfect body, widely found in the art of ancient Greece. It is therefore precisely to Greece that this bottle takes us. There, many statues, columns and houses are as white as snow. Synonymous with purity, this color derived from lime is also valued for its ability to reflect heat. Moreover, whatever the civilization or culture, white is a symbol of light, spirituality and cleanliness. It thus lends this fragrance a very noble connotation.
A few silver touches to illuminate the look of Kouros
Finally, note that a few gray touches appear in several places on this bottle. It is precisely in this way that the names Yves Saint-Laurent and Kouros are inscribed. This gray then blends perfectly with the few shimmering silver bands located at its base and on its cap. The latter lends the whole a touch of modernity and light, as if this fragrance were suddenly illuminated by the sun of the Mediterranean.
