Flower by Kenzo Eau de Toilette is the Eau de Toilette that Kenzo launched in 2021 for its Flower line, following an earlier Eau de Toilette. Signed by Alberto Morillas, perfumer of the 2000 Flower, this musky floral pairs Sicilian lemon with a Bulgarian rosewater, all set on white musks and vanilla.
Sicilian lemon in the opening
The top blends Sicilian lemon with mandarin, with a touch of lychee and ginger. Kenzo describes it as a light shiver at the opening of a creation it calls luminous.
A rose in water
The heart rests on a Bulgarian rosewater, drawn from Damask rose, accompanied by mimosa and chamomile.
White musks and vanilla
The base brings together white musks and an organically farmed Madagascar vanilla, extended with amber and patchouli. White musks and vanilla link this version to the first Flower, released in 2000, which already paired them.
What has changed since the first Eau de Toilette
The first Eau de Toilette of Flower brought together rose, violet, mandarin and vanilla. The 2021 version keeps the rose, mandarin and vanilla, drops the violet and gives lemon top billing.
What the label declares
The label lists linalool first among the odorant substances, ahead of benzyl salicylate and hydroxycitronellal, a molecule with a lily of the valley scent. Neither lily of the valley nor coumarin, with its scent of hay and tonka bean, which the list also declares, appears among the announced notes.
Citronellol and geraniol, two constituents of rose essence, correspond to the rosewater announced. Alpha-isomethyl ionone, a molecule with violet and iris facets, also appears on the list, even though Kenzo does not name violet for this version.
A UV filter, avobenzone, protects the juice from light, and a violet dye, CI 60730, tints it. The list names no natural essence: Sicilian lemon and organic vanilla remain covered by the generic term fragrance.
