Launched by Lalique in 2006, Encre Noire is a vetiver signed by Nathalie Lorson: cypress opens, two vetivers, from Bourbon and Haiti, form the body, cashmere wood and musks the base. The black bottle, capped in wood, refers to an inkwell by René Lalique. Victoria Frolova would make it her only vetiver.

On November 18, 2013, Victoria Frolova recalled what she loves in vetiver, between milky hazelnut, bitter grapefruit, licorice and driftwood. Among the twenty or so vetivers reviewed on her site, Encre Noire is the one she would wear alone for the rest of her life.

On August 9, 2024, she returned to Encre Noire as a cult classic. In her view, Nathalie Lorson balanced the facets of vetiver and highlighted them with musk and woods, turning the roughness of roots into a cloth of black silk.
