Fleur de Cristal, or the glass masterpiece of the Lalique dynasty

René Lalique was born in 1860 in Champagne. Wanting to be a jeweler working in glass, he composed from 1907 onward the precious perfume bottles of his collaborator and friend François Coty. In 1913, he opened his first glassworks, and more than 400 perfume bottle designs were created through his talent as a glassblower and his extraordinary creativity. If the house of Lalique has been recognized around the world since the early 20th century, it is largely thanks to René Lalique. So, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of his birth in 2010, Lalique perfumery dedicated a fragrance to him, Fleur de Cristal, presented in a precious glass case inspired by his two great loves: women and nature.

Fleur de Cristal by Lalique is as precious for its floral composition as for its glass bottle made using the lost-wax technique. Fleur de Cristal by Lalique highlights the talent of the master glassmakers by introducing a major innovation: bringing real lily of the valley bells into the bottle through the revolutionary technique of inclusion.

Always understated and graceful, the house of Lalique promoted this Fleur de Cristal through one of the most elegant black-and-white visuals. The woman's face and skin appear magnetized by Fleur de Cristal, the beautiful springtime scent.

Pure spring and femininity at the heart of this Fleur de Cristal

Fleur de Cristal is a floral composition created almost like a bespoke piece by Raphael Haury as a tribute to the master glassmaker René Lalique. The artist was inspired by the manifold splendors of nature that he reproduced in his vases, jewelry, and perfume bottles. For this Fleur de Cristal, it was therefore necessary to create a richly floral ensemble of his favorite flowers: lily, orchid, and of course lily of the valley.

Calabrian bergamot lights up the top notes with its unfailing brightness, joined by the strength of pink pepper. Then sambac jasmine opens its petals to these invigorating rays of sunlight, preparing us to receive the heart like a bouquet of flowers offered to our eager senses. Lily of the valley and stephanotis play the welcoming hosts, while ylang-ylang brings its exoticism and carnation its strength. The radiant femininity of this floral blend is tinged with the blond woody depths of cashmere wood and sandalwood, giving in more fully to the sensual animalic play of musk and amber.
