Launched by Lalique in 2006, Encre Noire is a vetiver signed by Nathalie Lorson: cypress opens, two vetivers, from Bourbon and Haiti, form the body, cashmere wood and musks the base. The black bottle, capped in wood, refers to an inkwell by René Lalique. Victoria Frolova would make it her only vetiver.

The Encre Noire bottle is meant as the image of an inkwell: the house links it to René Lalique’s “Biches” inkwell, dated 1913, and makes it a black bottle, where the dark glass answers the wooden cap.
Now Smell This described it in 2007: translucent under light, but black and opaque to the naked eye, topped with a dark wengé wood cap. The eau de toilette then came in 50 and 100 ml.
