Where to buy

Guerlain has always been intent on offering the exceptional to its clients, which has earned it a place among the most renowned French brands on the planet. Always looking toward the future, Guerlain never forgets its prestigious past and its origins. To restore the honor of the craftsmanship of days gone by, Guerlain therefore imagined a fragrance evocative of the Eaux de Cologne. La Cologne du Parfumeur first appeared in 2010. Yet no one could give an age to this timeless composition…

La Cologne du Parfumeur, a fresh essence in a sumptuous bottle

La Cologne du Parfumeur by Guerlain first dazzles with the sight of its bottle. Indeed, its flask resembles a true jewel. On its own, it is enough to plunge one back into the rich heritage of the Guerlain family. It is in fact a modern reinterpretation of the legendary bee bottle, first designed in 1853 for the Eau de Cologne Impériale. Intended for the Empress Eugénie, this glass case consists of a translucent cylinder decorated with multiple bees, a symbol historically tied to the First Empire. Onto this transparent block, Guerlain also places a dome, playing with light through the reflections of its tiles, as if to evoke the historic Place des Tuileries in Paris. Lastly, a white label inscribes the name of this composition in gold lettering, while also displaying the emblems of Napoleon: an eagle, a scepter and a crown.
So then, what could such a prestigious bottle possibly contain? As its name suggests, La Cologne du Parfumeur evokes the Eaux de Cologne of days gone by. Thus, Thierry Wasser, Guerlain’s official perfumer, chose an incisive and very fresh opening. La Cologne du Parfumeur is composed first of a zest of bergamot paired with a green note and a drop of dew. Then, its heart turns more herbaceous, in a duo of orange blossom and galbanum. La Cologne du Parfumeur by Guerlain is endowed with a timeless elegance. Finally, this composition ends in the cottony, vegetal softness of white musks.

Guerlain offers us a plunge into history

Although La Cologne du Parfumeur was born in 2010, no one could truly give an age to this fragrance. Its bottle seems to come directly from another era, while its breath evokes the Eaux de Cologne of the early twentieth century. Indeed, until that period, perfume as we know it today barely existed. Men and women wore almost exclusively Eaux de Cologne. Men would put a few drops on their handkerchiefs. Women would spray it onto their fans. Both also wore Eau de Cologne on their gloves. It was then a distinctive sign synonymous with grace and luxury, reserved for high society. Now, it is precisely this nobility that seems to resurface in La Cologne du Parfumeur, while being enriched with a more contemporary tenacity. Unquestionably, this fragrance speaks to the elegant women and urban dandies of our time.
