Eau de Campagne

Eau de Campagne is the eau de toilette Jean-Claude Ellena composed in 1976 for Sisley, the house’s first fragrance, founded that same year. Sisley classifies it as a chypre, citrus and grassy scent: basil, lemon and bergamot in the top, tomato leaf, lily of the valley, jasmine and geranium at the heart, a base of oakmoss, vetiver, patchouli and musks.

Gaia, on The Non-Blonde, loves this sunny green eau that lifts the mood, but regrets that it vanishes within an hour and a half; Suzanna, on Bois de Jasmin, sees in it a wearable French countryside.

What critics say

The Non-Blonde, August 2012

Gaia Fishler describes a sharp, green, bitter opening, carried by galbanum, that brightens into lemon and herbs. She loves this sunny eau, which she considers a quick mood enhancer.

She regrets, however, that it evaporates so quickly: ninety minutes later, nothing is left. She advises reapplying it often, or pairing it with a fragrance that stays longer.

Bois de Jasmin, August 2012

In a piece devoted to the scent of tomato leaf, Suzanna counts Eau de Campagne among the fragrances of summer and sees in it a wearable French countryside.
