Bois d’Argent is the shared eau de parfum that Annick Ménardo composed in 2004 for Dior, under the artistic direction of Hedi Slimane, alongside Eau Noire and Cologne Blanche. A floral woody for the house: an accord of wood pierced with powdery iris and studded with incense, which Wikiparfum rounds out with myrrh, honey, patchouli, and leather. A pillar of La Collection Privée, in 50, 100, and 200 ml.
Doré (Auparfum) makes it a favorite to be tamed; Alavi (Persolaise) admires Ménardo’s elegance but takes issue with the amber woods of the base.

Auparfum: divine incense, to be tamed
Jeanne Doré ranks Bois d’Argent among her favorites. She senses in it a mysterious material, between animal fur, incense smoke, candle wax, resins, and sacred balms, a disquieting blend of profane and sacred. It may surprise on first try, but once adopted, one believes one has always known it.
Persolaise: a silver arrow, a distracting base
Dariush Alavi, at the 2022 reissue, admires the elegance of Ménardo’s composition and its sophisticated clarity, a silver arrow shot through the middle of Cologne Blanche’s snowfield. The amber woods of the base, however, distract him from the incense and iris of the heart, which he judges rightly silvery.
