Where to buy
Bleu sees everything in blue: a sober yet delicately elegant bottle, magnificent blue eyes embodied by Gaspard Ulliel, a dark blue-toned universe created by Martin Scorsese, and a fresh, aromatic fragrance worthy of the celestial vaults. One might almost say Bleu ends up making us see life in… rose?!
Bleu de Chanel, the worthy successor to Allure Homme
Eleven years after the release of the multifaceted Allure, the house of Chanel sought to produce a fine masculine fragrance built around the strong concept of nonconformity. Even as Chanel and a major name in haute couture and perfumery, the house remains deeply invested in what men want. Thus was born the fragrance Bleu, created by the same perfumer as Allure, Jacques Polge, Chanel's renowned nose.
To create the advertising film that would launch this new fragrance, the house chose to embody the free and sensual man through Gaspard Ulliel and his striking, piercing blue gaze, alongside the brilliant director Martin Scorsese. The resulting film, set within the dark blue-toned world of the precious bottle, tells the story of a young prodigy played by Gaspard Ulliel. In the midst of an interview, he crosses paths with the gaze of a woman he once loved. Between flashbacks, close-ups on eyes (which are, of course, blue) and burning passions, the story carries us along toward blue, toward Bleu, to finally see the man free himself from his chains and break through his barriers in every direction.
Bleu is therefore a world where man is elegant, brilliant, sensual, in love, and above all, entirely free.
A powerful, sharp fragrance like a gust of masculine freedom
Like an ode to freedom and love, Bleu de Chanel offers aromatic, woody fragrances marked by finesse and elegance. The fragrance opens on a sparkling blend of citrus notes of lemon, spicy pink pepper, and fresh aromatic green mint. The heart sways between woody notes of vetiver and cedar and spicy, floral flights of ginger and jasmine. To give the Bleu man a powerful, distinctive sillage, the fragrance closes on more classic base notes of patchouli, sandalwood and incense, while offering the power of labdanum and vetiver immersed in a fresh floral softness of white musks.
The bottle, mirroring this composition that plays on contrasts between sparkle and powerful, classic roundness, offers a broad, very masculine build while letting the deep blue of its delicate, slightly transparent glass shine.
Bleu de Chanel offers an Eau de Toilette as mysterious and distinctive as the powerful, captivating gaze of its on-screen embodiment. Skillfully blending the classics of masculine perfumery while modernizing them with floral or delicately spicy raw materials such as ginger, Bleu has won over the hearts of men while also capturing the hearts of the women in their lives...

The advertising
Released in 2010 and composed by Jacques Polge, Bleu de Chanel is a masculine fragrance that is both powerful and remarkably delicate. Understated, elegant and refined, the Bleu de Chanel man possesses a strong character and natural charisma. Here, one finds the nonconformist spirit of Gabrielle Chanel, expressed in masculine form. Free and spontaneous, Bleu de Chanel is the fragrance of unyielding men, fully at ease with who they are. This aromatic-woody Eau de Parfum with amber and musky notes is, in a sense, an olfactory reinterpretation of masculine sensuality. The success of the advertising film hinged on the choice of its face.
Gaspard Ulliel becomes the face of Bleu de Chanel
The house of Chanel chose Gaspard Ulliel as the face of Bleu de Chanel. Born in 1984 in a Paris suburb, Gaspard Ulliel began his career as a model. He is also, however, a great actor, and audiences admired him in the remarkable role of the fashion designer retracing the life of Yves Saint Laurent. It did not go unnoticed that Gaspard Ulliel was also honored in 2017 with a César for his role in Juste la fin du monde. With his deep blue eyes and flawless silhouette, Gaspard Ulliel captivates and seduces, almost in spite of himself. There is something sensitive, sensual about him, something irresistibly compelling... The advertising film takes viewers through the streets of Los Angeles. Attempting to escape his many fans and photographers, the mysterious Gaspard Ulliel casts everything aside. Naturally, the handsome lead chooses love... Torn between fame and a longing for peace, the Bleu de Chanel film presents a simple yet moving story, directed by James Gray.
James Gray directs the Bleu de Chanel campaign
To direct its advertising film, the house of Chanel called upon American director James Gray, succeeding five years of collaboration with Martin Scorsese. Regarding the filming, James Gray states that it was precisely this inherent madness of the film world that he wanted to evoke through this film, a world apart where one leads a life that is both comfortable and deeply uncomfortable, and where a sense of vertigo can paradoxically arise from an excess of attention. The film was set to the rhythm of Bob Dylan's song All Along the Watchtower, reinterpreted here by Jimi Hendrix. The advertising film directed by James Gray moves between fantasy and reality. Through its advertising message, the house of Chanel states: Become who you are...
Awarded best masculine fragrance in 2011, Bleu de Chanel is the embodiment of Gabrielle Chanel's boldness. To represent this sensual, generous fragrance, the house chose a highly charismatic model, Gaspard Ulliel. His intense blue eyes make one long to dive alongside him into the bottle, which, for the occasion, also takes on a most bewitching navy-blue hue...
