Olfastory’s review
Aqua Allegoria Harvest, a prestige collection
First, let us begin by recalling what the Aqua Allegoria collection by Guerlain is. It brings together eaux fraîches, all infused with natural ingredients emblematic of perfumery. These essences celebrate the beauty of lush nature. They are conceived as bucolic poems, capable of transporting people to gardens with a single breath. The Aqua Allegoria Harvest collection reclaims some of these juices and turns them into exceptional editions, with ingredients sourced from exclusive harvests. Aqua Allegoria Harvest Madarine Basilic is thus created in partnership with farmers who cultivate sustainably.
The lively and crisp formula of Aqua Allegoria Harvest Madarine Basilic by Guerlain
For the very first version of Aqua Allegoria Madarine Basilic by Guerlain, the house used mandarin from China. This time, it is a variety grown in Italy, in the heart of Calabria. It unfolds a gentle bitterness, counterbalanced by the green, spicy freshness of basil. Far from being the only citrus fruit used, mandarin is here paired with clementine and blood orange. These joyful accents are freshened with orange blossom, white peony and ivy leaves. The green, spicy breath of basil echoes that of tea. Finally, the whole is softened with amber, sandalwood and chamomile.
All the beauty of the Bee Bottle enhanced with watercolor
Like all Aqua Allegoria perfumes, Madarine Basilic comes in Guerlain's famous Bee Bottle. Designed for the very first time in 1853, it was slightly modernized in 1999. Playing with light, it is topped with a golden honeycomb dome. This small insect, emblematic of Guerlain, is also engraved at its summit, on its golden bead. For Aqua Allegoria Harvest Madarine Basilic by Guerlain, this bottle takes on a very vivid orange color. This is also reflected in the form of a watercolor on its packaging. The work is signed by artist Laura Gulshani.
