So men were quick to show their desire to discover its masculine counterpart. This is how A*Men was born, in 1996.
Thierry Mugler's audacity in a men's fragrance
Angel was the very first women's fragrance to dare to display the scent of something edible. It was, in fact, the first fragrance created by Thierry Mugler, with its appetizing scent of praline, cotton candy and candy apple. Despite the reluctance of perfumers to develop it, it is clear that it achieved immense success. So, in the wake of this UFO of perfumery, Thierry Mugler created A*Men four years later. This is Thierry Mugler's first men's juice. It embodies a kind of contemporary and timeless hero. In reality, it stems from the creator's passion for comics, famous illustrated stories from 1950s America featuring superheroes in a legendary universe halfway between myth and reality. This was Thierry Mugler's source of inspiration when he created A*Men. Thus, he remained true to his highly creative imagination, unbridled and limitless. A*Men therefore depicts the image of a man with no half measures, particularly virile and asserting his inner strength and his desire to conquer. A*Men is the fragrance of a determined man, at once highly dynamic, dreamy and audacious.
The gourmand sensuality of A*Men
Naturally, A*Men could not appear right after Angel without revealing its own strong dose of gourmand character. To create this fragrance, Thierry Mugler enlisted perfumer Jacques Huclier. He devised a contrasted juice now described as the first gourmand oriental fragrance for men, one that paved the way for many other fragrances. It has a deceptively sweet softness paired with a more powerful, dry woody accord. It opens with a metallic, spicy freshness based on peppermint. This is joined by the freshness of bergamot and draws its aromatic facet from lavender and coriander. From there, a robust coffee note emerges, enveloping a woody accord containing patchouli and Atlas cedar. Finally, A*Men closes with the explosive power of styrax. However, the latter is softened by the sweetness of tonka bean and the animalic quality of musk. The whole proves to be particularly modern and very masculine. What's more, A*Men is housed in a highly futuristic bottle designed by Thierry Mugler himself. It is cut from a large metallic block. The whole combines, with striking contrast, a shiny zamac, a rubber coating pleasant to the touch, and an absolutely fascinating blue star.
