A*Men

Thierry Mugler launched A*Men in Europe in September 1996, four years after Angel; the fragrance reached the United States in spring 1997. The house presents it as the designer’s first men’s fragrance, a woody oriental with robust accents.

Angel’s counterpart

Kevin, on Now Smell This, recalls that A*Men follows Angel, released in 1992 and credited with starting the gourmand wave. The fragrance was first placed in the women’s section, in the hope that Angel’s fans would give it to a man or wear it themselves.

Jacques Huclier and coffee

The composition is the work of Jacques Huclier. Interviewed in 2019 by Richard Goller for Fragroom, the perfumer presents A*Men as the first fragrance to use a coffee note, and says he is proud to come across strangers wearing it.

Sizes

The eau de toilette comes in a silver metal bottle and a rubber-sheathed bottle, both refillable, with dedicated refills.
