Jacques Huclier
While some perfumers are veritable stars who do not hesitate to make themselves known, others are far more discreet, and little information circulates about their background and their initial desire to become a perfumer. Jacques Huclier is one of these. He does not wish to elaborate on his personal life and lets only his fragrant compositions speak for him.
The training and career of Jacques Huclier
Jacques Huclier, like many renowned perfumers, trained at the international perfumery school in Versailles, ISIPCA. A prestigious institution, it remains the best current path to becoming a perfumer and making a name in this profession. He obtained his diploma there in 1987 and joined the house of Haarmann & Reimer the following year as a junior perfumer. Then, in 1990, he opted for a larger company and moved to Quest International, now Givaudan. He began by holding a position as a fine fragrance perfumer in Paris. He held this role for eight years in France before moving, from 1998 to 2003, to New York in the same capacity. Then, following this long stay across the Atlantic, he returned to France and only changed positions in 2007. Since that day, he has held the position of senior perfumer for Givaudan, a true consecration. As such, he benefits from the incredible reputation of this house, which allows him to collaborate with the greatest luxury houses and to be one of the most prolific perfumers of his time.
The perfumes of Jacques Huclier
Jacques Huclier has collaborated with numerous creative houses. He has worked with O Boticario, Nina Ricci, Carte Of The Heart, Deviner, Gucci, Davidoff and Adidas. In other words, Jacques Huclier takes as much pleasure in creating perfumery blockbusters as in working for so-called more niche brands. Nevertheless, his reputation rests essentially on the perfumes of Thierry Mugler. Indeed, he began his collaboration with the house in 1996, creating A*men for men. He then did not hesitate to take apart and deconstruct his initial composition to create multiple flankers from it: Coffee, Havane, Pure Shot, Tonka, Zest Ultra, Ice… There is now something for every taste and every type of man.
Jacques Huclier is a complete perfumer who manages just as well to create fresh, invigorating scents as to craft amber, seductive perfumes. His creations suit women as much as men and manage to meet commercial needs while satisfying his boundless creativity.
