Allure Homme Sport Cologne: Elegance and refinement also come together with sport. How does one continue to ride the wave of success sparked by Allure in 1999 and Allure Sport in 2004?
Released in 2007, Allure Homme Sport Cologne follows Allure and Allure Homme Sport, which was launched in 2004. Allure Homme Sport Cologne would therefore be not only an elegant fragrance for athletic men, but above all a soft and light fragrance. Always in motion, the Chanel man is here given an energetic and fresh fragrance. Citrus and aromatic, the composition is signed by Jacques Polge, who states that a sensation does not need to be violent to be strong...
Allure Homme Sport Cologne, the Allure saga signed by Jacques Polge for Chanel
It was Jacques Polge, the house's official perfumer, who created the first Allure pour Femme fragrance in 1996. As a nod to Gabrielle Chanel, who said there are as many allures as there are women, Jacques Polge wanted to adapt the fragrance into a masculine version, then a sporty one. Jacques Polge was born in 1943 in Vaucluse. He was a fragrance creator at Givaudan before being hired by Chanel in 1978, succeeding Henri Robert, the father of N°19. He then took on the demanding task of developing new perfumes while respecting the spirit and philosophy of Gabrielle Chanel. Jacques Polge is responsible for such beautiful fragrances as Coco Mademoiselle, Egoïste, N°19 Poudré, as well as the reinterpretation of the legendary N°5 with N°5 Eau Première. Now retired, he has passed the torch to his son, Olivier Polge.
Allure Homme Sport Cologne, a beautiful citrus signature
Allure Homme Sport Cologne opens with very lively and sparkling citrus notes, namely lemon, grapefruit, mandarin, and bergamot. Of ancient origin, bergamot is mainly grown in the Calabria region, in the province of Reggio (Italy). Bergamot has a spherical shape like the orange, with the yellow appearance of lemon. Bergamot is not eaten; it is harvested for its peel, from which an essential oil is extracted. At a time when perfumes were made solely from natural products, bergamot was considered essential to perfumers. Today, bergamot still enjoys great popularity and offers tonalities that are floral, very fresh, orangey, and lavender-like all at once. The heart of Allure Homme Sport Cologne consists of an elemi and spice pairing that gives the whole composition its character. Elemi is a gum produced by trees that grow wild in the Philippines. Elemi gum is very malleable and displays a bright white color. In perfumery, elemi releases tonalities that are fresh, lemony, woody, and even peppery. Finally, the base of Allure Homme Sport Cologne is woody and cedary, combining cedarwood with white musks for a touch of sensuality. The bottle of Allure Homme Sport Cologne recalls that of its predecessor. Transparent with a chrome cap ringed in black, the bottle delivers a final touch of masculinity.
