The elegant virility composed by perfumer Alberto Morillas
To create this nectar, half man, half god, Givenchy chose a great perfumer, Alberto Morillas. Born in 1950 in Seville, Alberto Morillas has a sensitivity to Southern scents. After studying Fine Arts, Alberto Morillas joined Firmenich, where he learned the craft of perfumery. He then specialized in chemistry and taught himself the creativity of the perfumer's craft. In 1977, he earned the title of Perfumer, then that of Master Perfumer in 1998. A true self-taught talent, Alberto Morillas is a gifted, sensitive, highly creative perfumer. He states, when I write the formula for a fragrance, I can smell it. Alberto Morillas is behind magnificent successes such as Valentina by Valentino, Mademoiselle Ricci by Nina Ricci and Flower by Kenzo by Kenzo.
The virile notes of Xeryus
Xeryus is considered an ultra virile aromatic-fougère fragrance. Xeryus opens on the aromatic notes of lavender and rosemary combined with the citrus notes of lemon. Rosemary growers used to use lavender to scent linens, as well as bathwater. The flower grows throughout the Mediterranean region. In the Middle Ages, lavender was used for medicinal purposes and to fight infectious diseases, mainly against plague epidemics. Lavender cultivation developed starting in 1900. Lavender essence is obtained by steam distillation of freshly cut flowers. In perfumery, lavender releases herbaceous, balsamic and floral tonalities. Then, the heart of Xeryus becomes greener with the presence of galbanum and geranium, combined with the spicy touch of coriander. Galbanum is a plant also called ferula gummosa. Galbanum gum is found mainly in Iran and Afghanistan. Galbanum was originally used for its medicinal properties, as it relieved joint pain, arthritis and stress. In perfumery, galbanum essence is obtained by incising the roots of the plant. The gum is then distilled to produce an essence, but it is also treated with solvents to obtain a resinoid. Finally, the base of Xeryus is at once woody, dry and virile, combining fir balsam, sandalwood, vetiver and oakmoss.
