Sakura joined the Maison Christian Dior collection in 2018, now La Collection Privée. François Demachy devoted it to the cherry blossom, which he discovered one spring in Japan. The house describes it as a silk veil embroidered with barely bloomed flowers and an almond note; at launch, it spoke of cherry blossom and rose. It is worn by men and women alike.
The house details no pyramid. It describes barely bloomed cherry blossoms, like a veil of diaphanous tulle that lets the light through, embroidered with an almond accord that gives the fragrance relief and balance.
From rose to almond
At the 2018 launch, the house’s Japanese presentation paired the cherry blossom with a touch of rose, and François Demachy spoke of rosy nuances. The current page no longer names the rose and puts the almond forward.
The limited edition for the Cruise collection speaks of a floral, musky trail, with an almond and musk accord. The house’s pages show two ingredient lists: the older one includes anise alcohol and more UV filters than the recent one.
A structure without declared tiers
Without declared tiers, the cherry blossom reads as the top, the 2018 rose as the heart, and the almond as the base: the house says it is embroidered over the rest of the composition.
What stays out
The green notes, jasmine, hedione, mimosa, violet and white musk cited by many databases appear in none of the house’s statements. They stay outside the composition described here.
